Run the Virtual 5k &10k!

Has the “shelter in place” order and social distancing got you feeling like you could use a little exercise? The Love Your Neighbor Virtual 5k & 10k is a way for you and your family to get off the couch and get moving AND support a local non-profit at the same time!

A virtual race means that even though many people will be racing on the same weekend, you can run or walk the 5k or 10k wherever you want! Use the treadmill, do laps around your yard, run on the roads near your home. The possibilities are endless! There is a flat registration fee of $30 per family group. So whether you are running/walking by yourself, or with a partner and kids the cost is still $30.

The virtual race will take place on the weekend of Thursday, April 23-Sunday April 26. When you complete your run or walk  make sure to post pictures to social media using the #loveyourneighbor5k #loveyourneighbor10k and/or #hopesparta hashtags.

The proceeds from each registration fee will go towards Grace Kitchen a weekly community meal that feeds the body and soul of people in Alleghany County. Every Wednesday Grace Kitchen provides a meal and a place for people to connect and share their lives around the table. During the current COVID-19 crisis, Grace Kitchen has become even more important to our community providing meals, hygiene products, water, and even toilet paper through a new drive-through system. In this time of need Grace Kitchen has seen the amount of people being served double. Your donation will provide hot meals to people in Alleghany County in eco-friendly take-out containers.

Grace Kitchen is a ministry in partnership with Sparta United Methodist Church and Hope Fellowship Church. For more information, contact Pastor Ben Gatton at ben@hopesparta.org.

Remember that we are all in this together, thanks for supporting Grace Kitchen!
